Phaps We’ll Fail

Maybe we don’t have it in us to own our places. Maybe it’s too deluded to think we have it in use to go beyond fight/flight and the here/now.

Maybe the indigenous mind gets it, but maybe there’s very little of that left.

Maybe us “English speaking” ones with a default, even inadvertent, saviour complex disallow that from happening. Maybe we just see it like it is.

Maybe the homo sapiens was always a locust. Or maybe the agency is too weakened for the imagination of self governance and custodianship of one’s own place to be rekindled.

Maybe the lock ins are too strong.

Maybe we don’t want to see what is, or imagine what could be.

Maybe there’s comfort in status quo, and we’ll keep holding on to it till the last storm blows away the last fragment of it.
