Rational Disarray

A few more lives flickered out

The stats go up.

Exponential.

Unprecedented events unfold

a few more a day.

History’s big marker in motion.

The end of times. The start of times.

Fear and uncertainty, despair and depression

death and hunger, pain and sorrow

Cries For Help

kindness, empathy, control, bravery,

all -

mix with Excitement and Adrenaline

Glimpses Of A Possibility

clutching on to plans and dreams

and battles of thoughts and ideas and isms

for when this is over.

And personal victories of told-you-sos

and thank-God-we’re-safes

All Of This Measured

— every now and then —

in Likes, and a confirmation of what one believes

when every belief is tested.

A rush of emotions in hearts and minds and heads

Facts, data, stats, research, claims sweep in and out

While the ego, and vanity,

Almost keep it together like glue

(I go back and check the stats)

And the madness and coldness of it all brings sanity.
