Who I Fear

मुझे उनका कम डर है

जो खुले आम नफरत बेचते आये हैं

जिन्हे कभी भी दूसरे की तुच्छता पे

ज़रा भी शक नहीं था

जिन्हे अपनी सच्चाई के अलावा

कुछ दिखा ही नहीं

मुझे डर तो उनका ज़्यादा है

जो नैतिक थे और हैं भी

पर उनकी नैतिकता

हवा का रुख ले लेती है

जब निरपेक्षता का सीज़न था

तो निरपेक्ष थी

आज दूसरे छोर पे

किसी से भी ज़्यादा

पक्षों के आधीन हो गयी है

जिन्हे ना दृढ विश्वास

ना सच्चा मान है

ना कारणों का

सही सही अनुमान है

बस भीड़ का हिस्सा हैं

और उसी पे गुमान है

I am less afraid of

Those that have always hated freely

That never doubted the lesser-ness

Of the other

For whom their truth

Was the only one

I fear more

Those with morality

That swings with

The blowing winds

That was liberal and unbiased

When it was cool to be

And are at the other end

Outdoing most

In competitive hatred

Who had no conviction

Or real pride

Or reasons

Of the whys, then or now

Who belong in the crowd

And derive the pride from that
